This is the ccTLD for the United Kingdom. Please review Terms and Conditions of Domain Name Registration before registering a .UK domain.
Starting from June 10, 2014, the long awaited .UK ccTLD becomes available. Before, it was only possible to register a second-level .uk domain (such as .co.uk, etc.).The Registry has reserved a selection of .UK domains specifically for corresponding second-level domain name registrants. To see if you're eligible to register a particular domain, enter your .uk domain into the Rights lookup tool.
To register your corresponding .UK domain, search for the domain and contact our Support Team to assist you with the registration. Please note that the registry requires that you use the Exact same Whois details used on your corresponding second-level domain when processing your registration.
The Registry no longer allows the use of PO Boxes. If you are claiming your .UK and used a PO Box on your second-level domain, you must use the same information. However, in order to remain compliant with the registry terms, you will need to update the WHOIS information on both of these domains after the registration is completed.
You will also need to indicate a .UK postal address (address located in Great Britain (GB), Guernsey (GG), Jersey (JE) or Isle of Man (IM)) which was not a requirement for .co.uk or org.uk domain names.
If you are claiming your .UK and didn't use a .UK address on your second-level domain, you will need to update the WHOIS information on the existing domain name and then claim the rights for your new .UK domain, otherwise, you're not eligible to claim a .UK domain name.
If you have second-level .UK domains at another registrar, you can still register your .UK through NityGity. Additional verification may be required at the Registry level, and you will receive an email with the instructions from the .UK Registry.
NOTE: It will not be possible to manage a domain name as it will not be live or active until verification is completed. This should be done within 7 days, or the domain will be deleted.
The right to a .UK falls to the equivalent qualifying .co.uk, .org.uk or .me.uk domains which were registered prior to October 28, 2013. When there's more than one equivalent domain, the right will fall in order of priority: .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk. Owners of qualifying domains have 5 years (until June 10, 2019) to exercise their rights.
If a qualifying second-level .UK domain is not renewed (e.g., it expires or is canceled), the right will fall to anyone who registers a .co.uk prior to the launch on June 10, 2014.
If on October 28, 2013 no right existed, the right will fall to anyone who registers a .co.uk domain between October 28, 2013 and June 10, 2014. For any other extension (e.g., .org.uk) registered between October 28th, 2013 and June 10, 2014, there is no right gained.
After the launch on June 10, 2014 (where there is no right), .co.uk and .uk domains can be bought as usual on a first come, first served basis and do not carry any rights.
If no corresponding second-level *.UK domain exists, anyone can register a .UK domain name.
