I can't change contact information for my .UK domain. Why?

The authoritative WHOIS for .UK domains resides exclusively at the Registry level. Changes within the NityGity "Contact Information" control panel do not have any effect upon the public record, so we have disabled this option.

However, it is possible to manage contact information other than the Registrant name for .CO.UK, .ORG.UK, .ME.UK in your account in a regular way. Still, the Registrant name change can be performed by the Registrant via Nominet account or with the help of our Support Team only.

When a .UK (as well as any **.UK) domain is registered, the corresponding Nominet Online Service account is created automatically.

In order to get access to this account, you can go to https://secure.nominet.org.uk/auth/access-your-account.html and enter the administrative email address there. Login details will be sent to that email address. You can also contact Nominet at nominet@nominet.org.uk for more assistance.

All Registrant transfers (Registrant WHOIS changes) must be processed by Nominet (the .UK Registry) without exception. To change the Registrant of a .UK domain, you need to initiate the Registrant transfer process by logging into the Nominet's website. Thus, the easiest and fastest way of changing .UK contact details is to do it via Nominet online Service account.
